Santa's Hugs of Hope A visit from Santa-America is an exceptional wonder filled experience.  Santa, Mrs. Claus, and volunteer Elves are referred by a hospital or hospice staff, social workers or special needs educators.  Santa becomes an extension of the medical or hospice staff.

Santa collects important information on the child, siblings, parents and friends before making a visit—favorite toys, TV shows, music, foods, as well as issues of treatment, diet, and exercise—so he can immediately engage the child and siblings.

Of course he knows...he's Santa Claus!

Santa visits for about an hour, focusing on the child's condition and never forcing a visit.  Santa may simply hold a sleeping child's hand.

Santa also visits siblings, parents and special guests. Siblings are given sufficient time with Santa to feel extra special!  An only child may invite their best friends.

Santa brings age, gender and condition-appropriate gifts for all the children.  Santa-America is building donor relationships with toy and electronics companies to enable our gift program.

The same Santa will revisit the family during bereavement.  We are not limited by medical reimbursement.  Bereavement does not move to a schedule.  One Santa is making his 5th annual visit to a family after the death of a child.  A surviving sibling will become his “elf assistant” visiting other children in crisis.

“Santa becomes a gentle way of looking back and moving forward.”
